Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software company partners with TMF

ESRI, the world's largest GIS and mapping software company, has donated software to TMF in support of our mountain nyala research project, habitat mapping efforts, and technical training of Ethiopian natural resource managers. GIS, or Geographic Information Systems, is a high-tech software product used for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. The technology has become an important tool for scientists all over the world but can be very costly. ESRI's support of TMF is a result of our work with endangered species conservation and our efforts to build the technological capacity of our Ethiopian collaborators.
