Micro-finance Loans for Women
In 2008, TMF partnered with an Ethiopian non-profit organization to start the Women’s Small Business Loan (WSBL) Program in Dinsho, Balé, headquarters of Bale Mountains National Park. There are now 90 women in the program.
Mountain Nyala Conservation
The Murulle Foundation first started supporting mountain nyala research and conservation in the Galama Mountains (part of the larger Arussi Mountains) in 2001; the same mountain range where Major Ivor Buxton collected the very first specimens almost a century earlier.

Dinsho Kindergarten
After starting the microfinance program in Dinsho, we were searching for additional ways to help the community. We approached some community members and learned that land had been set aside for a kindergarten but that there was no money to build it.
Bale Mountains Biodiversity
The Murulle Foundation has been supporting research and community development projects in the Bale Mountains since 2001, primarily in Bale Mountains National Park and several Controlled Hunting Areas on the eastern slopes. One of Africa’s largest and least studied ranges, the Bale Mountains are internationally recognized for their high incidence of endemism and biodiversity
